Comment: I’ve been working on this piece for quite some time. Due to its size (160×90 cm or 63×35.4 inches) it took me a long time to finish, and I also didn’t want to rush things away. I can honestly say I’ve never been this pleased with any of my work before – I love everything about this painting. In order to practice my skills I used a mixture of medias, including acrylics, oil, graphite, charcoal, ink, pastels and more. The painting is supposed to show how I see the divide and class differences in America today. I have nothing against Americans or America at all, and to be honest I’ve never been in America. However try think of it more as a metaphor for most wealthy countries (and really, considering how America’s culture has influenced the rest of the world I know quite a lot anyway). Each character and all the scenarios in the painting represent the class differences in one way or another. Some of them are very obvious, others aren’t. I’m currently working on a follow up for ”Mr. Moon…” depicting the class differences in Africa. However, that piece won’t be finished in a long time (thinking that ”Mr. Moon…” took about 50 hours of painting and a zillion hours of planning, thinking, sketching etc).
